Summary of the position:As a qualified professional functioning under general supervision of the Program Manager (PM), the Program and Training Specialist (PTS) has responsibility for supporting the PM in the planning, developing, implementing, and administering of Peace Corps Costa Rica’s programming and training system. The PTS serves as a member of the project team and provides programming, training, administrative, and general support to 30-40 Volunteers in the field.Under CED PM guidance, works with the Training Manager (TM) and Training Team to design and execute an effective 27-month technical learning continuum for Volunteers, consistent with Peace Corps’ philosophy and development priorities in Costa Rica. The PTS will continue to provide general service support during active periods of training; however, during the Pre Service Training (PST) cycle, the PTS will not be required to conduct regular site visits or conduct full site Identification/development responsibilities.Minimum Qualifications:University degree in Business, Socio Economic Planning and Promotion, Economy, Sociology, Social Work, or a field related to the position.Two years of recent and cumulative experience designing training content and conducting dynamic sessions incorporating train-the-trainer approaches, adult learning principles, non-formal education, and experiential learning methodologies.One year of experience working on community development processes in rural communities, especially with women and youth on capacity building approaches.Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet Websites such as Google apps, survey tools, etc.Advanced language skills in English and Spanish both written and oral.A B1 valid driver’s license, experience driving 4X4 manual shift vehicle in rural areas and availability to travel throughout Costa Rica, up to 50-60% of the time, including overnight.A Costa Rican citizen or has current, valid authorization to work in Costa Rica.Desired Qualifications:Experience delivering training session in English and evaluating achievement of learning objectives.Experience working collaboratively across teams.Experience working, studying, or living in a multicultural environment, preferably with foreigners from US cultures.Organizational management experience to prioritize tasks during work overload.Knowledge of Costa Rican geography and rural communities’ challenges and opportunities for development.Experience working with virtual learning platforms such as Moodle, Zoom, Skype, Genially, etc.Interested applicants for this position must submit the following:A letter of interest in English, explaining skills, knowledge, and attitudes.A resume or C.V. in English that demonstrates that the applicant meets at least all listed minimum qualifications to be considered a candidate and continue in the selection process.SUBMIT APPLICATION TO
